Meet-or-Beat Pricing
Send the quote you already have. Get a straight answer.
Already have a quote for machined parts? Send the same files plus the number you’re trying to beat. Within 24-48 hours you’ll have an answer: a price that meets or beats it, or a straight “can’t touch that one”. No stringing along. Every part still gets inspected against your print before it ships, whatever the price.

How it works
Send the same package the other quote was built on (model, print, quantity, and the lead time it was quoted at) plus the competing price. Redact the supplier’s name if you like; the number and the terms are what matter. Apples to apples is the whole point: same part, same quantity, same timeline.
Within 24-48 hours you get one of two answers, and both are useful: a price that meets or beats the one in your hand, or a clear no with no follow-up pestering.
Where the room usually is
When a price can be beaten, it’s arithmetic and attention, not magic. Small quantities often arrive padded: suppliers tuned for volume quote them reluctantly and price in the annoyance. Sometimes the other quote took an expensive callout at face value where a DFM pass finds a cheaper equivalent, always proposed to you first, never slipped in. And sometimes restructuring the order helps: quote the full quantity, take delivery in two releases, better number.
When it can’t be beaten, and you’ll be told
Sometimes the number in your hand is genuinely strong. You’ll hear exactly that (“that’s a good quote, take it”) because pretending otherwise wastes your time and torches credibility that’s worth more than one order. The straight no is part of the service.
A lower price never touches the print
Meeting a price never quietly relaxes your drawing. The print is the contract: same dimensions, same tolerances, and the same inspection against it before anything ships. If a cost-saving change to the print would help, it arrives as a suggestion with your name on the approval line: your call, always.
Questions
Before you send a job.
01 What do you need to compare quotes?
The same files the other quote priced (model and print) plus quantity, lead time, and the number. Without matching terms it’s not a real comparison, and you’d only find out the hard way.
02 Will you actually say no?
Yes, plainly and quickly. If the quote in your hand is good, you’ll be told to take it. A meet-or-beat offer only means anything if the no is real.
03 Does this work for production quantities?
Yes, larger quantities usually have more room, since setup amortization and material buying both scale. Send the real volumes and the real terms.
04 What about one-off parts?
Worth sending, with honest expectations: quantity one has the least setup room to work with. Sometimes there’s still a better number; sometimes the answer is “that’s fair, take it.”
05 Does a lower price mean corners get cut?
No. The print is the contract regardless of price: same tolerances, same inspection before shipping. Any cost-saving change to the drawing itself is proposed to you first, never assumed.
