FAQ
Common questions.
The things people usually ask before sending a job. If yours isn't here, just get in touch. We'll give you a straight answer.
01 What files do you need to get a quote?
A STEP file plus a drawing (PDF) for each part is ideal: the model for geometry, the drawing for tolerances and notes. For flat parts, a DXF or DWG works. If you only have one of those, send what you’ve got; we can often quote from a model alone, and if you don’t have a model at all, we can help build one.
02 How fast will I get a quote?
Usually within 24-48 hours. If a job needs a closer look, we’ll tell you up front rather than leave you waiting.
03 Is there a minimum order?
No. One piece or one thousand: prototypes, short runs, and replacement parts are all welcome.
04 What materials do you work with?
Most common metals and engineering plastics: aluminum, steel, stainless, titanium, brass, copper, Delrin, nylon, PEEK, and more. The full list is on the Materials page; if your part needs something specific, just ask.
05 What tolerances can you hold?
It depends on the part and the process. Standard machining runs around ±0.005 in, with tighter tolerances held on request, down to ±0.0001-0.0002 in for ground and wire-EDM work. We quote the actual tolerance for your part, and we inspect to it.
06 How do I pay, and do you take purchase orders?
ACH, wire transfer, or company check. POs are welcome from established businesses. Just include yours when you approve the quote.
07 I don’t have a CAD file. Can you still help?
Yes. Send a sketch, a drawing, or even a physical sample, and our engineers can build the 3D model for you. Recreating a part from an existing sample (reverse engineering) is something we do regularly.
08 Do you handle prototypes, or only production runs?
Both. A single prototype, a short bridge run, or full production. There’s no minimum, and we can help you move from a prototype to a production-ready design when you’re ready.
09 Where are you located, and where do you ship?
We’re located in Michigan and ship nationwide. Send your files from anywhere. The process is the same.
10 Is there any work you don’t take on?
We focus on commercial parts. We don’t quote firearms, defense (DoD), ITAR, or EAR-controlled work.
