What “custom” actually means here

There is no catalog to browse and nothing on a shelf to ship you. Custom means the part is made to your design and your print: your geometry, your material, your tolerances, your finish. If you can define it on a drawing or a model, it can be quoted, whether it is a single bracket nobody has ever made before or a turned shaft that has to drop into an assembly you already own.

That is the whole premise: you bring the definition, and the part gets made to it. This is the core file-in, quote-out service that the rest of the site branches off of. The material, process, and industry pages are all just specific shapes of this one thing: custom machined parts, made to order.

Send a file, get a real quote

The mechanics are simple. Send a 3D model as STEP/STP, STL, or SLDPRT, a 2D drawing as PDF, or a ZIP bundle for a multi-part job. A real person opens it, reads it, and prices it, not an instant estimate that gets quietly revised once a human finally looks. The number that comes back is the number, usually within 24-48 hours.

Every quote rides along with a free DFM review. If a tolerance is tighter than the part needs, a finish callout is quietly doubling the price, or a feature is going to fight the machine, the quote says so and suggests the cheaper equivalent. The print is the contract

For a custom part, the drawing is not paperwork. It is the agreement. Dimensions, tolerances, material spec, finish, and the revision letter define exactly what gets made and exactly what gets checked before it ships. Call out a critical fit and it gets held and verified to that callout; leave it off and it gets made to a sensible default. Naming what matters is how you get the part you pictured instead of a reasonable guess at it.

One prototype to a production run

There is no minimum order, so the same service covers a single proof-of-concept piece and a recurring run of hundreds. Quote one part to check fit and function, then reorder against the same revision and the next batch is made and inspected to the same dimensions as the first. Put the revision letter on your PO and batch two matches batch one.

Materials span the usual range and a few beyond it: aluminum (6061, 7075), stainless (303/304, 17-4 PH), steel, titanium, brass, copper, and engineering plastics like Delrin/acetal, nylon, and PEEK. Processes cover milling, turning, wire EDM, laser cutting, and precision grinding. A few things are not quoted: firearms, defense/DoD, and ITAR/EAR-controlled work. Everything else: if you can define it, send it over and you will have a real number in a day or two.

01 What counts as a custom CNC part?

Any part made to your design rather than pulled from a catalog. If you can define it on a drawing or a 3D model, geometry, material, tolerances, finish, it can be quoted. That covers brackets, housings, shafts, plates, fixtures, replacement parts, and one-off pieces nobody has made before.

02 Do I need a finished drawing to get a quote?

Not always. Many parts can be priced from a 3D model alone. Critical fits and tolerances need a print to be meaningful. If you do not have one, the team can build it as a quick CAD task, and a free DFM review comes with every quote either way.

03 How fast is a custom quote?

04 Can I order just one custom part?

Yes. There is no minimum order, one prototype is a normal job, and the same service scales to a full production run. Standard lead time is 4-6 weeks, rush is 1-2 weeks.
