Which CNC machining services can one quote cover?
Custom machining here covers every process in the table below, and custom fasteners too: a bolt, screw or pin at a length, head or thread no catalog carries. Using one CNC machining parts supplier for all of it means a job with several part numbers across milling, turning and laser cutting goes on one quote and one PO, is invoiced once and can ship together. Aluminum is quoted in 6061 or 7075, and stainless in 303 or 304, 316 or 17-4 PH. Steel includes tool steel, and titanium, brass and copper are quoted too. The plastics include Delrin (acetal) and PEEK. Other alloys and plastics quoted on request. Name the grade on the print. Not sure of the grade? Choose “Not sure - please advise” for material on the quote form, say what the part does, and the quote recommends one.
For precision machining, the tighter figures in the spec panel apply to the features your print calls out, not to a whole part. The same quote covers the harder parts. A pin or bore can be ground to size, and a wire-EDM profile can be cut in hardened tool steel (sources 4 and 5). An obsolete part can be remade from a sample.

How does contract and outsource CNC machining work here?
Contract CNC machining here means you hand off the parts and keep the design. The buyers who send work this way are engineering firms without a machine of their own, machine builders and integrators buying the machined half of a build, teams building medical and lab instruments, fabrication and welding shops sending out the turned and milled details that go into a weldment, and plants whose own schedule has no room for a one-off. Fixtures built to your print are quoted the same way and have their own pages under custom fixtures.
What to send: Any file type is accepted. A STEP model plus a 2D PDF drawing is ideal; IGES, SLDPRT, Parasolid, DXF, DWG, STL and ZIP all work, and a sketch, photo or new sample part can start a quote. If the part needs a model drawn from a sketch or sample, CAD design is quoted as its own line, as are the other design and engineering services. Put the material, quantity, finish and the dimensions that matter on the print, and say which revision it is. A STEP file with no drawing is quoted to a ±0.005 in general tolerance, or the one your notes name, so call out any feature that needs tighter.
The quote form asks which delivery tier you need: Rush, Standard or Extended. Lead time starts at order approval. Put your need date in the part description and the quote answers it. Rush 1-2 weeks applies to machined parts with no secondary operations. Heat treat, grinding, EDM and finishing add time, and the quote gives the real date.
Vendor setup takes a day: W-9, NDA and net terms available. Card by secure link (a processing fee applies), ACH, wire or check. No C of C or material certifications ship with parts by default. If your PO needs them, say so before the quote. Inspection reports on critical dimensions aren’t included by default. If you need one, ask when you place the order.

01 Where should I send a print for a machine shop quote, and what comes back?
A print can go to a local machine shop, an instant-quote platform or a supplier like this one; the platform comparison sets out how the last two differ. Here, drop the files on this page or email them; no account or portal is needed, and the about page says who reads them. The quote comes back as a PDF by email with the price, the material and the lead time, plus a design review that flags any callout driving the cost, with the cheaper equivalent where one exists.
02 Looking for a custom metal parts manufacturer? Can you supply parts that are laser-cut and bent, not only machined?
Yes. MI CNC Parts is the supplier on those parts too: laser-cut parts such as blanks, bent brackets, tapped and countersunk holes, pressed-in hardware, a machined face on a cut part, and welded assemblies built from laser-cut parts can all go on the same order as the machined parts. Laser cutting is quoted per job, rush available, rather than on the machining lead times.
03 Do you take production runs, blanket orders and repeat orders?
Yes, with no minimum. Ask for more than one quantity, such as 1, 25 and 100, and the quote shows each. A blanket order, quoted at the full quantity and delivered in releases, is fine too. For a repeat order, put the drawing revision on the PO and the parts are made to that revision; if the print has changed since the last batch, say so and the new revision is quoted.
04 I already have a quote from another supplier. Can you beat it?
Send that quote’s price and terms with the same files, quantity and lead time, and you get back a price that meets or beats it, or a plain answer that it cannot. The terms are on meet-or-beat pricing.
