A Fictiv Alternative
As a Fictiv alternative, MI CNC Parts quotes machined parts with no portal and no account. Send the model and drawing, a person reads both and emails a quote within 24-48 hours, and one contact answers every reply until the parts ship.

How do Fictiv’s published terms compare with the terms here?
The Fictiv column below is quoted or paraphrased from its own pages as read on 27 September 2026. Those terms change, and its site is the authority. The table compares terms only, not the quality of anyone’s parts.
| Term | Fictiv, as published | MI CNC Parts |
|---|---|---|
| How a price is made | Instant pricing for prototype and expedited parts, or an RFQ for complex parts and production; most quotes within 2 business days (source 1) | A PDF by email; no instant price |
| Files for a CNC quote | STEP or a supported native CAD format; no mesh files such as STL, and no IGES (source 2) | Any file type; STEP + PDF ideal |
| A drawing with no model | Not quoted: a PDF drawing is accepted only with a CAD file (source 2) | A fully dimensioned 2D PDF is quoted without a CAD line |
| A model with no drawing | ISO 2768 medium applies (source 3) | Machined parts: quoted to a ±0.005 in general tolerance, or the one your notes name. Laser-cut and bent parts: the quote states the tolerance used |
| Materials for CNC | 45+ materials listed on its CNC page (source 3) | Aluminum 6061 and 7075; stainless 303/304, 316/316L and 17-4 PH; steel; brass; titanium; Delrin (acetal); PEEK. Other alloys and plastics quoted on request. Name the grade on the print. |
| Several quantities | Up to 5 quantities in one quote (source 4) | Ask for more than one quantity, such as 1, 25 and 100, and the quote shows each. |
What do these terms mean for your part?
ISO 2768 medium allows ±0.1 mm on a length from 0.5 to 6 mm, ±0.2 mm from 6 to 30 mm and ±0.3 mm from 30 to 120 mm, roughly ±0.004, ±0.008 and ±0.012 in (source 5). Either default covers only what the drawing leaves open. A dimension that matters belongs on the drawing, and CNC machining tolerances covers which ones to call out.
The file rows matter most for a part that exists as an old IGES export, an STL, a drawing with no model behind it, or only as the physical part. What file to send goes through each format. A sketch, photo or new sample part can start a quote here too, and when a model has to be built from one, the CAD is quoted as its own line.
Each named grade has its own page under materials. One quote and one PO can mix CNC machined parts, laser-cut parts, ground and wire-EDM features and custom fasteners.
Who reviews the print, and who answers?
Fictiv’s platform checks each design automatically before checkout. A “Warning” can still be ordered; a “Failure” needs a revised design before checkout. Its engineers also give design feedback by email or phone (source 3).
Here the team reviews the print, and a callout that costs more than the part needs comes back as a note with the quote, part of the design review. Nothing on your print changes without your sign-off. A revision or a reorder goes back to the contact who handled the first order. If a part doesn’t match the print, it’s remade or credited. A single prototype and a small-batch run are quoted the same way.
Is Fictiv faster?
Yes, on its published numbers. As of September 2026, Fictiv publishes CNC parts as fast as 1 day (source 3), and no delivery tier here comes close, so a part needed within days belongs there. Rush 1-2 weeks applies to machined parts with no secondary operations. Heat treat, grinding, EDM and finishing add time, and the quote gives the real date.

Questions
Before you send a job.
01 Can I send the files I already uploaded to Fictiv?
Yes. The STEP file and PDF drawing that went to Fictiv work here as they are. Send them through the quote form or by email, with the material, the quantities and any finish. A finish called out on the print is quoted with the part. Lead time starts at order approval. Put your need date in the part description and the quote answers it.
02 Is there an instant price, like Fictiv’s?
No. The price is written after the files are read, and a job that needs longer to price, such as one in a grade that has to be sourced, gets a note saying so within the 24-48 hours. How the quote turnaround works covers the steps.
03 Is MI CNC Parts cheaper than Fictiv?
It depends on the part. If you hold a Fictiv quote, send it with the same files for meet-or-beat pricing: within 24-48 hours you hear whether it can be met or beaten, or get a straight no.
04 Do parts ship with a C of C, material certifications or an inspection report?
No C of C or material certifications ship with parts by default. If your PO needs them, say so before the quote. Inspection reports on critical dimensions aren’t included by default. If you need one, ask when you place the order.
05 How do payment and vendor setup work without a platform account?
Card by secure link (a processing fee applies), ACH, wire or check. Vendor setup takes a day: W-9, NDA, net terms available. Shipping is quoted as its own line, or ships on your carrier account. For comparison, Fictiv takes a credit card, wire, ACH or direct deposit, or a PO once your company is approved for credit terms, with net 30 as its standard terms (source 6).
06 What other companies are like Fictiv?
Xometry and Protolabs are two more platforms, and MI CNC Parts vs Xometry vs Protolabs sets their published terms side by side with dated sources. For laser-cut sheet parts, the SendCutSend comparison covers that platform.
